How to Change a Volume's Performance Type (Retype)

In cases where you need to change a Volume's Performance Type—either to increase speed or to reduce costs by selecting a lower-performance option that better suits your current needs—you can do so by following the steps below. Please note the following limitations: the Volume must not have any snapshots, and the time required to complete the retype process depends on the size of the Volume.

Prerequisite

• The project's wallet balance must be greater than 0 (see how to top up a project's wallet).

• The Volume must have a Healthy status and must not have any snapshots.

It is recommended to Create an Image from the Volume as a backup before proceeding.

Instruction

1. Access the Retype Volume menu

Select the desired Volume, then click on the "Retype Volume" menu option.

2. Select the new Performance Type

Choose the new Performance Type you want to switch to. The system will begin billing for the new Volume based on the selected Performance Type. Then, click "Retype".

3. Wait for the Retype process to complete

The system will display a summary window for the retype operation. You can close this window and wait for the Volume's status to return to Healthy.
