# Managing Key Pair(s)

Accessing an instance requires a key or password to ensure the security of the data within it. Users can generate their own keys, known as a Key Pair. Once created, the user can use the public key for authentication.

## Instructions

### 1. **Log in to the project**

Select a project from the projects management page to enter its detail page.

### 2. **Go to Key Pairs**

In the left-hand menu, click **COMPUTE > Key Pairs** to go to the Key Pairs page.
